In September 09 Aastra announced that DNA will not be supported on MX-One version 4 (released end of dec 09). It will continue to be supported on existing platforms TSW and versions 3.X of TSE. Main focus for Aastra is CMG which will contain the equivalent functionality provided by DNA.
What does that mean in a nutshell to an existing user of DNA?
Your service partner will require to move your existing DNA features across to the CMG platform (typically these are OWS, DMG and EMG). If a client is moving to version 4 we would expect their intention would be to take advantage of the richer application suite available with CMG. DNA to CMG comparison (Nov 2010).
Cost factors?
Well we understand, the like for like replacement of DNA to CMG will be extremely low from a licensing perspective from Aastra, however, make sure you talk to your service partner about the implementation and any project costs (which will definitely not be free). There will also be training needs.
We all tend to be spoilt for choice in terms of end user applications. DNA was the glue to build those applications into your MD110 / MX-ONE. What it also included was the operator services and directory amongst other elements like EMG and softphone client ECC. Announced is September 08 was the decision to continue with DNA alongside CMG. Many users associate DNA with the Operator and Directory listings but there is a lot more for the buisness to use if the need is identified.
